Christian Inspiration For Singles

Is being single a gift?

It’s seems so easy to say “I will trust God with my life” when everything is going our way. It is completely different to be a joyful servant when your life has stumbled off track. We need to remember that regardless of what society says, being single is a gift. One that is spoken of many times in the bible.

Paul’s referenced singleness as being a gift in 1 Corinthians 7:7Paul, who was one of the most important people in the bible after Christ’s death was on fire for God’s purpose, possessed wisdom beyond comprehension and was fully satisfied with being a SINGLE man.

He spoke of singleness as a simpler life, one that isn’t for everyone. Just as marriage is not for everyone.

God, apart from being the Creator of ALL, is also our loving Father. It’s worth remembering all of those times that our earthly parents gifted us with presents that, at the time, didn’t make much sense. However, after time had passed, turned into the best presents we had ever received. Singleness can be like this in some seasons of life.

Singleness Allows Us Time to Grow Spiritually and Emotionally

Being in a relationship can create unconscious bias or decision making that are influenced by a significant other being in our lives; Like that step God is impressing upon us to take, concerning a job or mission work we are called to perform overseas.

It goes without saying that a partner could most definitely be included in those wonderful events, but one may hesitate on making that decision because of them.

There is a Divine Purpose in Being Single

What’s the point of being single? Straight answer,To become closer to our God.

It takes a lot of time, energy and resources to be in a dating relationship that energy could be spent drawing nearer to our Lord and building a strong relationship with HIM first. Spend your energy building the foundation of your personal relationship with our heavenly Father. Use this time to.

  • Be or become an active Church or Christian group member
  • Cultivate your life around God’s will
  • Dive into a deep, intimate relationship with your Heavenly Father.
  • Pray without stopping and ask for guidance

Trust in our Father's Timing, HIS plan will prevail

As single Christians, we realize that marriage is a bond before God and an eternal promise to one's significant other. The decision to be bound to one person for the rest of our lives should not be spontaneously rushed into.

Don’t rush this season of your life. Take every day as a blessing, enjoy your freedom to make your own life choices and praise God for all he has given you already. In some cases, concerning past abusive or broken relationships, thank Him for who He has removed from your life.

God bless you and remember these scriptures whenever you feel discouraged:

1 Corinthians 2:9

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

John 15: 7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
